Tiare Blossom

A new floral for summer!
As many of you know, I travelled to France for two weeks. Just before I left on my Sniffapalooza trip, I was inspired to create a fragrance for my travels!

It’s called Tiare Blossom. An exotic blend of gardenia, white ginger flowers and jasmine married with notes of lemongrass, litsea cubeba, orange oil, vanilla, nutmeg, bergamot, coriander, ending with hints of musk and sandalwood. When I presented it to my new friends on our Sniffa trip, it was followed by oohs and aahs…and I take that as a huge compliment, coming from people who are even more addicted to scent than I..:-)

It comes in all of our products. From lotion to perfume oil to candles.

I hope your summer is going well and I plan to create a new fragrance based on my trip to the fragrance capital of the world, Grasse.

Have a scentual day and aloha!

Wanna Be More "Virtuous"?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

According to a small study at the journal of Psychological Science, when put in a “clean scented” room, participants became more honest and willing to give and reciprocate with the partner.

The conclusion for researchers? “These changes in behavior can be explained by a symbolic link in individuals’ minds between moral purity and cleanliness, epitomised, according to the researchers, by the ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’ adage.”

Blending Bash was a Blast!!

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Last Sunday night, we had a Blending Bash at the “Nest,” as we affectionately call our store. Eight people came and bended their own “signature” fragrance. We had food from Porto’s Bakery! YUM! Chicken Empanadas, these black bean plantain things I can’t remember the name of that have sugar sprinkled on them and their famous potato balls. (Mashed potato filled with meat!!) My friend Jiffy made us a Blending Bash cake! What a sweet heart…here’s a pic!

We had some great combos: Where Angels Go (Angel Food Cake) & Zen Tea…WOW! I never would have put those two together! Thanks for that, Heather!!

Here’s some of the peeps that attended. (Thank you Amy Jurist, for the photos!)

365 Days of Products: DAY TWO-Avalon Organics

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

So here we are. Day two.

A few months ago, I was at Target. I was milling the facial products aisle and noticed the Avalon Organics Vitamin C Moisture Plus Lotion with SPF 15.

It was a little pricey, $16.00. Since I don’t often invest in facial skin products too often, I was taken aback. I know, I should take better care of my skin!. I guess if I were at Macy’s or another department store, it would have seemed inexpensive. But I was at Target and, in comparison, it seemed expensive. But I digress.

I opened up the cute orange 4oz bottle. The smell is wonderful! It has a slight coco butter scent mixed with the essence of orange. Nice combo! (It actually reminded me of our KLEAN Bath & Body Exotic Butter in Sweet Orange. Although ours is thicker…and more expensive. So what am I talking about.

I like the fact that it is a bit thicker than usual facial lotions. I am in SoCal and it’s a desert here. So I need hydration. I also like that it contains an SPF. It’s like a 2-in-1 product. It goes on smoothly and leaves my skin beautiful and supple.

I wanted to learn more about Avalon Organics. They have a Consciousness in Cosmetics vision. The five tenants of this vision are: 1. Purity & Safety 2. Sustainability 3. Products that work 4. Sensuality 5. Personal Choice

They do not use harsh surfectants or parabens. All part of their conscious choice.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. And I look forward to trying more of their products!

365 Days of Products: DAY ONE: Bella Lucce

Monday, August 10th, 2009

I am starting this blog because I am obsessed with all things fragrance-oriented. Food, body products, odd smells like tar, gasoline etc…! Yes, I know, I’m strange! My goal is to feature a fragrance (or product) everyday for a year!

This morning, I began my day with a nice, hot shower. When I got to the office I realized that I needed some lotion for my hands. I had a jar of Bella Lucce’s Rainforest Restoration Acai Antioxidant Body Creme on my desk.

First of all. I can’t tell you how much I love Bella Lucce’s products. And Lela Barker, owner of Bella Lucce, is a doll! If you ever have a chance to meet her, you will never forget her. She is a blast to hang out with!

This creme is packed with all kinds of softening oils like Macadamia Nut Oil and Passion Fruit Oil. As it goes on, you can feel the softening properties immediately. It’s definitely hydrating and leaves a tiny residue of butter. So if you are planning to do things that require your hands to be drier, you may want to wait a bit until it soaks in!

The scent is a bit harder to figure out. It’s seems like it’s a blend of red grapes, wine and blackberry. I could be completely wrong, but that’s my first pass at it! What do you think?

Make a Sugar Scrub!

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

KLEAN Quickie!
Make your own sugar scrub!

In this current economically challenged time, we felt it necessary to help you weather the storm. Some people aren’t able to keep personal care products on the top of the shopping list, so here’s a basic recipe for making your own sugar scrub at home:

* 1 cup of table sugar or coarse brown sugar.
* 1/3 cup olive oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, grapeseed, sesame or vegetable glycerin…enough to your liking.
* your favorite essential oil or possibly vanilla extract
* optional: poppy seeds or sesame seeds

Pour all ingredients into a bowl and mix. When everything is incorporated, you are done!

Keep in a sealed container. Avoid getting water in the scrub container. You don’t want it growing any little buggers!

Have fun and watch the shower floor, it may become slippery!
