What Inspires you?

Sushi & Coloring

Lately I have been searching for inspiration. That thing that comes when I get so excited about something I can’t get it out of my mind. It often shows me the next path to take.

Yesterday I mentioned that I had been feeling stuck. Not sure what direction to take. It seems that when I am feeling that way, it’s usually because I’m uninspired.

Earlier this year, I was extremely motivated by coloring. Yes, that thing that 6-year olds do and yes, there’s this thing that’s been happening the last few years in the adult coloring arena and I jumped on that train…full steam ahead!

I purchased every book I could get my hands on and so many variations of colored pencils that my head was spinning with excitement!

I couldn’t. not. color.

Every night, I was in front of my TV with a table and coloring book. It’s like it was calling me to do it and I listened. I am not great at coloring. I am definitely not a fine artist by any stretch of the imagination, but what I learned was that it kept me focused on what was directly in from of me. A Zen, experience, if you will. I learned by sharing my experience that there were others in my circle who were totally entranced by coloring. So I decided to have a coloring party…and it was so much fun to share this with fellow coloring kin.

I struggle with anxiety and while it’s less intrusive than it used to be, this exercise is perfect for me. Calming the the left side (thinking part) of my brain while allowing the right (creative) side to play. The one thing I also noticed by doing this is that it “loosened-up” my artistic energy. I found that it helped me with my business and with some of life’s challenges.

Coloring is definitely a mind/body exercise and contributes to overall well-being and beauty.

What inspires you? What do you do to get the creative juices flowing?

Here are a few links to some of my favorite coloring books:

The Secret Garden by Johanna Basford

India by Abrams Noterie (a French coloring book)

My favorite pencils (thus far): Prismacolor (Soft Core)

Would love to hear about what inspires you!

What I learned on a recent cruise!

As I mentioned last week, I recently I travelled to Jamaica and Grand Cayman on a cruise with some lovely ladies from the Indie Beauty Network. We went on a business cruise…yes, I said business cruise…don’t roll your eyes at me…:-)

Anyway, the women I met on this trip were so wonderful. Everyone was at a different growth level in their business. Some just starting, some relaunching and others reinventing. We spent two days masterminding our businesses. If you don’t know what that is, it’s when business-minded people get together and the entire group helps each person with their individual business (or personal life, whichever is pressing at the time). Sometimes personal and business overlap, and it’s a great, non-threatening place to get help.

As part of my masterminding, there were a few things that came up about what I want and need to do to grow KleanSpa.

  1. Promoting our off-shoot company, Mobile Mixtress. You can follow us here on FaceBook. A custom-blending party service for birthday’s, bat mitzvah’s, bachelorette’s, girl’s night in etc…Everyone receive’s their own custom fragrance! Ooh la la!
  2. We are going to whittle down our “flavor” list. With so many fragrances, it’s hard for us to grow efficiently. Hire us for your next party and we’ll come and blend a fragrance for each of your guests.

Many of you have asked which fragrances we are letting go of.

Here are fragrances we are letting go of!
Exhale
German Chocolate
Holiday Glow
Ka-Bloom
Karma-L Krunch
KleanSpa Kolada
KleanSpa Grass
New Cucumber
Sweet Sugar
Zen Tea

Lastly,

3. On April 1st, we will be gently raising our prices. It’s been at least 4+ years since we have increased our pricing and with raw materials costs rising, we simply cannot continue to absorb those costs.
With that in mind, we are offering a discount so that you can stock up for spring at our current pricing.

Use code: SPRINGFLING in the coupon code area and save 25% off your order.

We are so grateful and honored that so many of you have been our cheerleaders and continue to be a source of inspiration for us!
Thank you.

We’re on TV!

Hello KleanSpa blog readers!

I am starting the beginning of the year off with a bang! On February 12th, 2012 at 9PM KleanSpa will be featured on the popular wedding show, My Fair Wedding. I was so excited when I got the call and was asked to appear as an expert and present the bride (Sno E) with spa product options for her bridesmaids gifts. The people on set could not have been nicer and David Tutera, the host, was a pleasure to work with.

The show prominently featured several of our holiday scent and I am excited to find out which one the David picked. In the segment I provided her with three options. She told us what scent she would like, but it really comes down to David’s decision…he IS the wedding planner. I don’t want to mention the fragrances here, but they chose a Body Polish, Candle and Diffuser! We would love you to tune in or set your DVR’s! It’s on Sunday at 9pm on WeTV.  (check your local listings).

MINDFULnest on Main!

Hello KleanSpa readers!

It’s time for another post. Back in July, the gals I share a store with and I opened another MINDFULnest shop in Santa Monica, CA. I was in France last July and when I came back, they asked me to join them in their next venture! I said, of course! We opened the first week of October 2010. So far, it’s going well. We decided that I should build a blending bar and offer a place for people to sit and create a signature fragrance of their very own. The bar is gorgeous! We are right next door to Chinois (a Wolfgang Puck restaurant built in the 80’s). One of my dreams is to one day live by the ocean. In the meantime, driving down to Santa Monica on the weekends will have to suffice. And it does. I get to see the ocean at least once a week! Here are a few pics of the store. More to come later!

If you’d like to come visit, here is our address is at 2711 Main Street, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
