Last night (at four in the morning) when I was in between sleeping and waking, I thought of an idea. I don’t always have ideas like this and I am usually not awake at 4am!
But this one felt really good! Here’s the story…
Recently, I have been helping my dad who is 84. He has fallen quite a bit over the last few years, and no longer drives. I have jumped-in to help him out in any way I can. One of the things he wanted me to do was bring KleanSpa products to his house so that I could give them as a gift to his new neighbors. They have lived in the house at least 6-months and he really wanted to welcome them to the neighborhood. I kept forgetting to bring the items and he kept reminding me. (There’s a lot to remember when you run a business and take care of an aging parent.) Anyway, I finally brought one of our diffusers and walked it over to their house and knocked. The gal who lives there opened the door and was so thrilled to receive an unexpected gift. She asked me to come in and told me that they were home most of the time (as they worked from home) and that if my dad needed anything, that he could call. She then gave me her contact info.
This act of kindness not only made her feel good, it made me feel great! I am not sure about you, but I have neighbors that I have had for over 10 years. I am friendly with many of them and occasionally we have given gifts to each other. Completely randomly and for fun and for free…meaning with no expectation of something in return. But I want to feel that sense of community again.
Here comes my idea! I want to offer this to you. This weekend, starting today, since it is a long weekend for many of you, I am giving you the opportunity to “love your neighbor.” I encourage you to spread the good will and the KleanSpa love to others near you. Right now, you may be saying, why would I want to love my neighbor? They leave their trash cans out all week or they let their dog do its business on my lawn and don’t take care of it! Or, I live in a tiny town and my closest neighbor is a half-mile away. I get it. If you simply can’t bare the thought of talking to your neighbor, pick someone you think needs a little love (maybe that guy who flicks his cigarette butts on the street needs some manSCRUB). A little good energy is what we want to spread. It’s a win-win for everyone.

As I mentioned last week, I recently I travelled to Jamaica and Grand Cayman on a cruise with some lovely ladies from the Indie Beauty Network. We went on a business cruise…yes, I said business cruise…don’t roll your eyes at me…:-)
Anyway, the women I met on this trip were so wonderful. Everyone was at a different growth level in their business. Some just starting, some relaunching and others reinventing. We spent two days masterminding our businesses. If you don’t know what that is, it’s when business-minded people get together and the entire group helps each person with their individual business (or personal life, whichever is pressing at the time). Sometimes personal and business overlap, and it’s a great, non-threatening place to get help.
As part of my masterminding, there were a few things that came up about what I want and need to do to grow KleanSpa.

I am starting the beginning of the year off with a bang! On February 12th, 2012 at 9PM KleanSpa will be featured on the popular wedding show, My Fair Wedding. I was so excited when I got the call and was asked to appear as an expert and present the bride (Sno E) with spa product options for her bridesmaids gifts. The people on set could not have been nicer and David Tutera, the host, was a pleasure to work with.
The show prominently featured several of our holiday scent and I am excited to find out which one the David picked. In the segment I provided her with three options. She told us what scent she would like, but it really comes down to David’s decision…he IS the wedding planner. It’s time for another post. Back in July, the gals I share a store with and I opened another MINDFULnest shop in Santa Monica, CA. I was in France last July and when I came back, they asked me to join them in their next venture! I said, of course! We opened the first week of October 2010. So far, it’s going well. We decided that I should build a blending bar and offer a place for people to sit and create a signature fragrance of their very own. The bar is gorgeous! We are right next door to Chinois (a Wolfgang Puck restaurant built in the 80′s). One of my dreams is to one day live by the ocean. In the meantime, driving down to Santa Monica on the weekends will have to suffice. And it does. I get to see the ocean at least once a week! Here are a few pics of the store. More to come later!

It’s been over a year since my last post. I can believe it! I guess you can see that blogging wasn’t on the top of my list.
Valentine’s Day seems like a great day to start blogging!
We had an incredible 2010. Besides our collaboration with MiniLuxe in the Boston area, we joined forces again with our co-operator, MINDFULnest, and opened a second location in Santa Monica, CA. Last year also marks the year we started using the name KleanSpa (formerly: KLEAN Bath & Body). With new labels and a new name, we are unstoppable. We hired Jason Van Fleet of Van Fleet Photography, to make our products look clean (pun intended) and fresh!
This year we are releasing a few new products: Shampoo and Conditioner. You will be able to order your favorite KleanSpa fragrance and use it to wash those lovely locks.
I feel a little out-of-practice in blogging today, but my intention for this year is to blog. No matter how long or short. I love our customers and will enjoy staying connected here!

The conclusion for researchers? “These changes in behavior can be explained by a symbolic link in individuals’ minds between moral purity and cleanliness, epitomised, according to the researchers, by the ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’ adage.”
